Spelling Bee Champ says Sayonara

          Cristal Vera from Cobb 6th Grade Campus was crowned district champion at the Galena Park ISD Annual Spelling Bee on Feb. 10, 2011. Held at the district's administration building, campus winners from schools around the district competed to become the 2011 district champion. In a silent room filled with anticipation, Cristal correctly spelled the word "ominous" to move to the final, anticipated victory word. To claim victory and end the 2011 GPISD Spelling Bee, Cristal correctly spelled "sayonara."
