Galena Park ISD Students Earn EMMY®s

          Galena Park ISD proudly honored students from Galena Park High School's Buzz Media program at their Board of Trustees meeting held on Monday, Feb. 14. Buzz Media was recognized for earning three 2010 Student Television Awards from the Lone Star Chapter of the EMMYs. "Hit 'em With the Test," an engaging, urban flavored hip-hop style video encouraging students to take the SAT, was an Awardee for Craft Achievement. "RUBIE S," an intriguing short film on test taking strategies, won an EMMY for writing. "Chris Rios Basketball" is an explosive basketball highlight video that won an Honorable Mention EMMY for Sports. "Chris Rios Basketball" was also the only sports video selected for an EMMY this year. All videos were written and produced by Buzz Media students under the direction of R. Dave DeJohn. The Board of Trustees also recognized the Buzz Media program for having three additional films officially selected as 2011 finalists in the prestigious SXSW (South by Southwest) Film Festival in Austin, TX.
