Innovative Teaching Grants Due by Friday, April 29th, 2011

For those interested in applying for an innovative teaching grant in 2011, please download the following items:

• Grant to Teachers  (for individual teachers and amount awarded up to $1,000)
• Campus/Department Grants  (for campus teams or department and amount awarded up to $5,000)

          The Innovative Teaching Grants Program supports innovative and creative educational projects that increase student achievement. All Galena Park ISD employees are encouraged to submit their idea for a project that strongly impacts student learning. A committee of Foundation Directors in a blind (no educator or school names are revealed) evaluation process selects those projects worthy to be funded and grants will be awarded in September 2011. Since 1999, over $465 thousand dollars in grants have been awarded to schools across the Galena Park school district through this grant program.

          On October 7, 2010, the Galena Park ISD Education Foundation made dreams come true again for Galena Park ISD employees.  The Foundation awarded a total of $13,254 to 8 grants at 6 campuses on our traditional Prize Posse day. On this special day, we decorate school buses, load them up with our "Friends of the Foundation" and surprise teachers with the good news that they have won a grant. The day is filled with shouts of joy, tears of happiness and even a few somersaults!
