Mile-high Generosity

        Recognizing that the economy has made the holiday season more difficult than usual for many families, the students of Galena Park Elementary and MacArthur Elementary schools entered into a friendly competition. The goal: collect the most items to donate to the Galena Park Food Bank. Together, both schools brought in over 14,000 items. For perspective, 14,000 cans of food stacked one on top of the other would reach approximately 1 mile high! Students from both schools along with employees of Galena Park ISD Warehouse Services were honored to deliver the items. The winner of the competition, of course, was the Galena Park Food Bank. Galena Park ISD is extremely proud of Lance Lyles, principal of Galena Park Elementary, Lecia Eubanks, principal of MacArthur Elementary, and their students, parents and staff for exhibiting such a generous spirit of giving.
