Galena Park ISD Approves 2011-2012 Academic Calendar

          Galena Park ISD students will report to school on Aug. 22 under the 2011-2012 academic calendar approved by the Board of Trustees during a special called Board meeting on Jan. 18.
          While students return to school on Aug. 22, teachers will return to work prior to that start date. Staff days are scheduled from Aug. 15-19.
          The last day of school for students will be Friday, June 1 while Saturday, June 2 is a teacher workday.
          Holidays for students and staff during 2011-2012 include:

Sept. 5 – Labor Day
Nov. 21-25 – Thanksgiving
Dec. 19 – Dec, 30 – Winter Break
Jan. 16 – Martin Luther King Day
March 12-16 – Spring Break
April 6 – Good Friday Holiday
April 9 – Student Holiday
May 28 – Memorial Day

          Additional student holidays for staff days are Jan. 2, Feb. 20, Oct. 10 and April 21.
