Career and Technology Education Holds Magic Camp

        The GPISD Career and Technology Dept. is once again sponsoring an exciting three day summer camp. MAGIC camp, Mentoring A Girl In Construction, is designed for high school girls at least 14 years of age. As expressed on their website http://mentoringagirlinconstruction.com, “MAGIC Summer Camp offers high school girls the opportunity to learn about the countless avenues of employment available to women in the construction industry and to engage these young women via hands-on training in basic construction skills. This opportunity to gain marketable skills and to experience the exhilaration of successfully performing difficult tasks builds self-confidence and boosts self-image.” The camp runs from June 7 – 9 at the GPISD Agriculture Facility on Holland Ave.

        In this troubling economy, we hope this camp serves as a positive message to any students who might be questioning their future career path.
