Talented Team Takes Championship |
North Shore High School Track and Field team won their second straight 5A Track and Field Championship on Saturday, May 15, 2011. North Shore won the [state] title with 73 points, while Copperas Cove was second with 51 and Klein Forest was third with 24. In dominating fashion, the North Shore boys track team won five gold medals (Triple Jump, 100M, 200M, 400M Relay, 800M Relay). This was the first time for the North Shore boys to win a gold medal in the 400M Relay or the 800M Relay. Members of the 400M and 800M relay are: Miketavius Jones, Jaylon Hicks, Jermaine Authorlee and Larry McDuffey. Individually, Jaylon Hicks won a gold medal and tied a national recored in the 100M with a time of 10.15 seconds. Devonte Davis, with his last jump of 51' 3 3/4", repeated as the state Triple Jump champion. Amazing results for a very talented group of track and field superstars. XXX won his gold medal in the 200M dash with the third fastest time in the nation. With this much talent, the North Shore Track and Field team seems more like an All-Star Team.
