H-E-Buddy Brings Fun and Nutrition to North Shore Elementary

Ms. Silvia Lloyd and her first grade students used their creativity and knowledge of proper nutrition to enter the Nutrition Adventures Make News contest sponsored by H-E-B and the Houston Chronicle. The students were thrilled to hear the news that their posters and ideas won the right to have H-E-Buddy throw a party in their honor and recieve a $200 H-E-B gift card for their classroom.
Ms. Lloyd utilized the contest as a way to encourage the students to learn about nutrition and healthy foods. She had the students create a project about a healthy plant and submit five ideas why the plant was healthy. The students also had to come up with their own slogan for their plant so that more people would be encouraged to eat fruit or vegetable they selected for their project. The students ideas were so creative and exciting that H-E-B awarded the classroom first place in the Nutrition Adventures Make News contest.
