Dave DeJohn Honored at Chamber Luncheon

          Dave DeJohn was honored as the Educator of the Month at the North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon on May 6, 2011. DeJohn teaches audio/video technology at Galena Park High School where his "Buzz Media" students take pride in creating and producing engaging films to help students, community and teachers with various topics of interest. This school year, Buzz Media students won runner up in the High School Short Film category at the prestigious 2011 South by Southwest (SWSX) Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Additionally, GPHS was the only school statewide to have three short films in the finals. Last year Dave's Buzz Media students won three Emmy Awards, placed second nationally in the XAP/Bridges media competition, and were also finalists with one short film at the SXSW Film Festival. DeJohn was also honored at GPISD Educator of the Month in April 2010, named the lead teacher for the new CASH Academy at Galena Park High School, and is a member of the "Team Lit" a literary focus team at GPHS. .
