GPISD Campuses Earn Prestigious Recognition from NCEA

        The NCEA (National Center for Educational Achievement) released its prestigious 2011 National Center for Educational Achievement's Higher Performing Schools.  Eight GPISD campuses earned recognition.  You may or may not know, TEA identified approximately 48 percent of its Texas schools as Exemplary or Recognized.  By comparison, the National Center for Education Achievement analysis deemed only 10 percent of its schools to be higher performing. 

       The standard by which these schools are identified varies with respect to the state accountability system.  Instead of determining a rating based upon the percent of students meeting standard on the TAKS, the NCEA uses the following standards to identify its schools:

1. Academic growth of students and/or 
2. Achievement of students on the TAKS Commended standard. The Commended standard is used because the Met Standard (passing) level is too low to measure student preparedness for postsecondary learning.
