GPISD Education Foundation Prize Posse Gives Nearly $20,000
in Grant Money.

On Tuesday, September 20, 2011, the Galena Park ISD Education Foundation gave away $19,850 in grants to teachers at six Galena Park ISD schools. The grants are given to teachers, or groups of teachers, who write proposals for “innovative teaching” ideas, which might include things like building a garden to grow fresh fruit and vegetables that the students get to eat, or Kindles® in the classroom to promote reading for fun. These grants give the opportunity for teachers to do something extra they would not normally be able to do due to budgetary constraints. The excitement generated by these grants are as infectious as the smiles seen on the teachers and students faces.
