Armand Bayou Nature Center

The Armand Bayou Nature Center is a unique wildlife preserve "smack dab" in the middle of the Houston metropolitan area. It is unique because it is not maintained with federal, state, county or city funds, but was purchased with private donations and continues to be maintained by private funds. There is much to see and do at this nature center, all for a very affordable price. The special raptor exhibit is home to some impressive birds of prey

Brazos Bend State Park
The Brazos Bend State Park, part of the Texas State Parks system, is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Here you can get up close to hundreds of different kinds of birds, 21 types of reptiles and amphibians, and two dozen types of mammals, including white-tailed deer, racoon, gray fox, feral hog, bobcat, rabbits and squirrels.

Port of Houston
The Port of Houston is one of the busiest ports in the world. What better way to experience it than a free public boat tour? The 90-minute round-trip sets out from the Sam Houston Pavilion. It then cruises casually along the channel. The boat has a maximum capacity of a 100 passengers and offers air conditioned lounge seating as well as standing room on the rear deck.

Miller Outdoor Theatre
The Miller Outdoor Theatre's free summer performances are a wonderful Houston tradition enjoyed by young and old. The theatre is a place where you can experience Houston Symphony performances, Shakespearean drama, ballet, and modern dance, jazz, as well as children's theatre.

If you want tickets to an event at Miller Outdoor Theatre, they must be picked up in advance the day of the event due to high demand. Catch DIsney's "When You Wish" with performances running June 3rd through June 5th.

Community Theatre
There is something rather inspiring about Community Theater. It is obvious that everyone involved, from the actors to the prop artist, are doing so because they have a passion for what they are doing. The AD Players maintain a Children's Theater located right off of Westheimer Street inside St. Luke's Methodist Church. The shows presented are suitable for all ages and feature stories that will entertain and enlighten younger audiences. Charlotte's Web will be running this summer from April 1st through May 30th. The next play will be Riddle of the Rainbow running from June 4 through June 20th. The Riddle of the Rainbow is a happy story for those who like riddles and love rainbows.
