• Woodland Acres Middle School vs Galena Park Middle School
    8th Grade Gold Team:
    The Hornets lost to the Yellowjackets 4-24 after scoring quickly early they couldn’t keep the offense going for the remainder of the game.  Galena Park managed to control the game and the scoring leaving the Hornets short.

    8th Grade Black Team:
    The Hornets and the Yellowjackets stung each other for four quarters fighting out who would have bragging rights for next season.  The defense for the Hornets was strong and the offense put up 46 points but at the end of the game those 46 points would not be enough for the win.  The Yellowjackets found 7 more points winning the game 53-46.

    Woodland Acres Middle School vs Cunningham Middle School
    WAMS 8th Grade Gold Team:
    The Gold team lost a tough 18-48 game to the Cunningham Wildcats this week. The Wildcats came out in attack mode which prevented the Hornets from finding a rhythm.

    WAMS 8th Grade Black Team:
    The Black team struggled mightily on both offense and defense against Cunningham Middle as the Wildcats defeated WAMS 13-62. The Hornets played hard but just couldn’t overcome the prowess of the Wildcats and the deficit mounted early in the game.

    On Deck:
    The WAMS teams will take on Gentry Middle School in their next outing.

    Woodland Acres Middle School vs North Shore Middle School
    7th Grade Gold Team:
    The Gold team struggled in their season opener against the North Shore Mustangs losing 55-0. The Hornets played some solid defense early but the Mustangs proved to be more than the Hornets could handle. Joshua Macias earned an outstanding performance nod by his coaches Monday night.

    7th Grade Black Team:
    The Black team lost their season opener against the North Shore Middle School Mustangs 85-5 Monday night. The Hornets started strong with a quick 3-point shot by Matthew Villalobos and a lay-up by Roberto Rios, but the Mustang defense locked down the Hornets after the initial 5 points.

    8th Grade Gold Team:
    The Gold team scored the most points of all the young Hornets teams on Monday night. The Hornets put up 20 points in a 36-20 loss to North Shore. Diego Martinez led the team with 12 points.

    8th Grade Black Team:
    The Black team lost a lopsided 41-10. Elijah McNeil led the Hornets with 5 points but the Mustangs controlled the game both offensively and defensively.

    On Deck:
    The WAMS basketball teams will be facing off against Horace Mann Middle School next week.
