  • GPHS vs Eisenhower
    JV Team:
    A 14-run fourth inning led Galena Park to a 17-1 victory over Eisenhower on Tuesday. Galena Park put the pressure on, with doubles by Peja Richardson, Jaylen Ramirez, Adan Soto, Anthony Cuellar, and singles by Danny Rivera, Yuriah Richardson, and Raul Gonzales.  Eisehnower got on the score board in the first inning with a run on a stolen base but never saw the plate again.  Galena Park pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. Raul Gonzales singled on the first pitch of his at bat, scoring one of the two runs and Gabriel Pagan grounded out, scoring the other run.  The fourth inning was the big inning as Galena Park notched 14. Galena Park's big inning was driven by doubles from Richardson, Ramirez, Soto, Cuellar, and Richardson, and singles by Rivera, Richardson, and Gonzales.  Adan Pagan was the winning pitcher for Galena Park. He surrendered one run on zero hits over two innings, striking out four. Cuellar threw two innings in relief from the bullpen.  Galena Park collected 20 hits on the day led by Gutierrez, Cuellar, and Richardson who each collected three hits. Galena Park stole 13 bases during the game as five players stole more than one. Gonzales led the way with four. Galena Park was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Soto made the most plays with nine.

    Varsity Team:
    The Yellowjackets defeated Eisenhower 12-2 thanks to a strong start.  After giving up a single run in the top of the first inning Galena Park answered by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first inning.  The Jackets scored on a double by Gilberto Rios, a walk by Adam Salinas, a single by Ernesto Sandoval, a single by Pedro Hernandez, a single by Isaiah Martinez, and a single by Julian Macias.  Eisenhower managed to keep the Jackets from crossing the plate in the second and third innings but gave up a run in the fourth and four runs in the sixth ending the game early.  The big bats for G.P. were Gilberto Rios, Adam Salinas, Ernesto Sandoval, Pedro Hernandez, Isaiah Martinez, and Julian Macias, all driving in runs.  Raymundo Brosig earned the win going six innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out ten.  Galena Park tallied nine hits in the game. Pedro Hernandez and Ernesto Sandoval each collected two hits to lead the Jackets.

    GPHS vs Elkins
    JV Team:
    Three pitchers combined in a no-hitter as Galena Park takes a victory over Elkins JV on Saturday, March 2nd.  In the first inning, Galena Park got their offense started scoring three runs and added two more runs in the second giving G.P. a 5-1 win over Elkins.  Adan Soto earned the win for the Jackets.  He pitched two innings, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out four and walking one. Paco Gutierrez and Pagan entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.  Rey Ortiz led Galena Park with two hits in two at bats. Galena Park didn't commit a single error in the field.  Adan Soto had the most chances in the field with three.

    Varsity Team:
    The Galena Park Yellowjackets clinched a fourth inning lead in an 11-1 victory over Westfield on Saturday, March 2nd.  The game was tied at one in the top of the fourth when the Yellowjackets were able to take advantage of a wild pitch by the Westfield pitcher ending in a run scored.  Ernesto Sandoval also singled on the first pitch of his at bat which scored another run.  The Yellowjackets’ bats caught fire in the sixth inning as they plated five runs.  The sixth inning offense was led by Juan Castillo, Arnulfo Garcia, Adam Salinas, and Ernesto Sandoval, who all drove in runs.  Jonathan Sunday got the start against Westfield pitching six innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out six.  Galena Park tallied 15 hits in the game. Arnulfo Garcia, Juan Castillo, Gilberto Rios, Adam Salinas, Alexander Gomez, and Ernesto Sandoval all managed multiple hits led by Arnulfo Garcia who had three hits in four at bats.
