Condolence Request

The Galena Park ISD Communications Department provides staff members the opportunity to share information about the passing of a loved one or a current/former GPISD employee.  In an effort to share this information accurately and respectfully, we have established a few guidelines for submitting this information to share with colleagues.  Please take a moment to read through the guidelines prior to submitting the Condolence Notice Request.  Please wait until you have funeral/service information before submitting your request.

Gather the following information PRIOR to submitting your Condolence Notice Request:

* Permission from the family to share funeral information publicly if the deceased is a current/former employee

* Direct link to the online obituary published by the funeral home or newspaper OR service/funeral date, time, and location

* A photo of the deceased individual - no group or family photos should be submitted

District-Wide Condolence Notices

Only the following notices will be shared district-wide through the District Family News email group:

* Death of an employee's immediate family member (spouse, child, parent, sibling)

* Current or former GPISD employee

Campus-Only Condolence Notices

* If the condolence notice does not meet the district-wide distribution criteria, the request will be routed by the Communications Department to the designated campus key communicator.  The key communicator will work with the campus principal to review any notice requests and determine how the information will be distributed.

* Principals have discretion to determine which death, funeral, or condolence notices are appropriate to share with campus staff through the campus intranet email group.
