8th Grade College & Career Readiness Resources

What are Endorsements?

Endorsements are specialized pathways or focus areas that students choose in high school to align their coursework with career, college, or technical interests. They guide elective choices and help students build depth in a subject area.

What is the purpose?

Endorsements give students a focused course sequence that links high‑school learning to college, career, or technical goals. They boost readiness by providing deeper study, practical skills, and opportunities such as certifications and internships.

How does it work?

Students follow a required core plus a sequence of specialized electives (often including a capstone, internship, or CTE certification) that together fulfill endorsement criteria. Schools may set credit, GPA, and competency requirements to earn the endorsement.

What are some student benefits?

Endorsements clarify post‑graduation plans and strengthen college/career readiness by providing deeper subject knowledge and practical skills. They also create opportunities for industry credentials, dual‑credit courses, and resume‑building experiences.
