What is Technical Dual Credit and its purpose?
Technical dual credit accelerates students’ career pathways by letting them earn both high‑school and college credit for career‑technical courses, reducing time and cost to obtain industry credentials or college certificates while providing hands‑on training that increases workplace readiness and eases the transition to postsecondary programs or employment.
What are some student benefits?
- Dual credit courses allow students to earn college credits while in high school. Once a student earns a passing grade in the class, they will earn college credit.
- Students will experience a smoother transition between high school and college.
- Students will have first-hand exposure to college-level work while still in high school.
- Students have the opportunity to begin their freshman year of college with college credits while also earning credits toward high school graduation.
Student Enrollment Checklist
- Apply Online at https://prod.applytexas.org/
- Students must respond to the email from San Jacinto College acknowledging admissions and access the assigned San Jac ID # (G########).
- Testing- Test score requirement has been waived.
- Vaccination - Students must have a current meningitis vaccination on file with the school nurse.
- Registration: All students meet with their campus CTE Counselor and sign the Dual Credit Request form.
- Payment - Payments may be submitted online using RevTrak or in person at the Counselors' Office on their campus.
