TAEA Visual Art Events

Each year, the Galena Park Independent School District’s Fine Arts Department participates in Texas Art Education Association's visual art scholastic events. Students enrolled in art classes in elementary school, middle school, and high school are eligible to participate. The mission of the TAEA Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) is to recognize exemplary student achievement in the Visual Arts by providing art students and programs a standard of excellence in which to achieve.

Texas Elementary Art Meet (TEAM)

During the 2026 Texas Elementary Art Meet (TEAM) season, 7,260 works were adjudicated statewide at the regional level, with only 568 being awarded Top of TEAM medals. The Galena Park ISD presented 26 entries for TEAM Region 4 East with 23 receiving the highest rating of a 3.

Junior Visual Art Scholastic Event (Jr VASE)

During the 2026 Junior Visual Art Scholastic Event (Jr VASE) season, 15,582 works were adjudicated statewide at the regional level, with only 1,155 being awarded Platinum medals. The Galena Park ISD presented 77 entries for Jr VASE Region 4 East with 58 receiving the highest rating of a 4.

Galena Park ISD had 1 students receive 1 Platinum! Congratulations to the following student whose work was recognized with a Platinum medal!

High School Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE)

During the 2026 High School Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) season, 32,456 works were adjudicated statewide at the regional level, with only 2,152 qualifying for State VASE. The Galena Park ISD presented 220 entries for high school VASE Region 4 East with 173 receiving the highest rating of a 4.

State Visual Art Scholastic Event (State VASE)

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, 17 Galena Park ISD visual arts students' artworks were submitted for adjudication in the Texas Art Education Association 2026 State Visual Arts Scholastic Event. 14 entries received a rating of 4, the highest non-Gold Seal rating TAEA bestows at the state level. Congratulations to the following students whose work was recognized with a rating of 4 at this year's State VASE!

Out of all the entries that advance to State VASE, 150 were selected as Gold Seal entries. State VASE jurors select artworks that represent the goals of VASE and exemplary examples of concept, technique, craftsmanship and creativity in student artwork. Students selected as Gold Seal winners receive a Gold State Medallion, and their artwork is exhibited in a variety of venues across the state, culminating with the Gold Seal Exhibition at the annual TAEA Fall Conference.
