Student Transfers

Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment is the process that allows students to attend a school other than their home school, also known as their school of residence. In approving transfer applications, the Superintendent or designee shall consider the availability of space and instructional staff, the student's disciplinary history, and attendance/tardy records. Admitting a transfer student shall not require more than a minor adjustment to the existing programs offered by GPISD.

A transfer that would limit the educational opportunities of resident students shall not be approved. The Superintendent or designee has the authority to accept or reject any transfer request, provided that such action is without regard to race, religion, color, sex, disability, or national origin.

The Superintendent or designee has the authority to revoke transfers. Transfer students shall follow all District rules and regulations, including, but not limited to, GPISD policies and regulations, the Student Code of Conduct, and eligibility requirements.  Any other disruptions by the student or parent/guardian that interfere with the school's daily operation may result in the transfer being revoked.
