The GPISD Becker Early Head Start Program provides full‑day, center‑based services for children ages six weeks to three years. We offer comprehensive supports including high‑quality early childhood education, health and developmental screenings, nutritious meals, and family services. Our family‑centered approach promotes school readiness by supporting both children and their caregivers during these critical early years. For assistance, call 832‑386‑2006.

Head Start was created in 1965 as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s "War on Poverty." Led by the Office of Economic Opportunity under Sargent Shriver, experts designed a national child development program to meet the emotional, social, health, nutritional, and psychological needs of preschool‑aged children from low‑income families. Since its founding, Head Start has served over 32 million children, fostering social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development and preparing children for success in kindergarten. Early Head Start was established in 1995 to serve infants, toddlers, and pregnant families.

Galena Park I.S.D.’s Becker Early Head Start has proudly served local children and families since 1999, bringing these longstanding Head Start services and supports to our community.
