As a parent, the health and well-being of your family is one of your most meaningful responsibilities. We want to provide information, tools, and guidance for supporting your child’s mental health. Trying to manage situations that negatively impact a child’s mental well-being or find treatment for a mental health condition often leaves parents feeling confused, overwhelmed, and unsure of where to start. We believe in the power of self-care and have included resources that can help provide encouragement and support for parents, too.

Welcome to the Galena Park ISD Mental Health Department.
Our students, families, staff, and community are at the heart of everything we do. Mental health plays a substantial role in a school's safety and overall climate. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 1 in 5 adolescents has a diagnosable mental health disorder, and even more show signs of depression. Educators also struggle with mental health, with recent surveys suggesting half or more describe themselves as under high levels of stress and in a “not good” place mentally. These issues can disrupt the educational environment and lead to negative outcomes for students. By focusing on mental health, schools can support and promote the safety of all members of the school community through new initiatives and fresh perspectives on existing practices (Texas School Safety Center).
This site is a central place for resources, support, and connection:
- Practical guides for parents on recognizing signs, starting conversations, and finding help
- Student supports, programs, and coping strategies available in our campuses
- Resources and wellness supports for staff and educators
- Information on district initiatives, partnerships, and how we promote a safe, supportive climate
- Crisis contacts and links to local mental health services
We believe mental health is a shared responsibility. Together—parents, caregivers, educators, and community partners—we can create safer, more nurturing schools where every child and adult can learn, grow, and thrive. If you need immediate assistance or are concerned about a student or staff member in crisis, please contact campus administration or local emergency services right away. For other questions or to learn how to get involved, please explore the resources below or contact our district mental health coordinator.
Thank you for partnering with Galena Park ISD to prioritize well-being and safety for our whole community.
