Empowering Students to Make Healthy Choices
Galena Park ISD is committed to promoting healthy, drug-free lifestyles by providing students, families, and staff with education, prevention resources, and evidence-informed programming that supports lifelong wellness. Our Substance Use Prevention program focuses on building protective factors, strengthening decision-making skills, and creating safe, supportive school communities where students can thrive.
Through collaboration with campuses, families, and community partners, we provide prevention education that empowers students to make informed, healthy choices and avoid behaviors that may negatively impact their academic success, health, and future.

- Alcohol and drug prevention
- Nicotine and vaping prevention
- Prescription medication safety
- Marijuana and cannabis awareness
- Opioid awareness
- Healthy decision-making
- Peer pressure and refusal skills
- Building resilience and protective factors
- Stress management and healthy coping strategies
- Digital safety and responsible decision-making
Parent & Family Resources
Families play an essential role in prevention. Galena Park ISD provides resources to help parents and caregivers:
- Recognize warning signs of substance use
- Have meaningful conversations with their children
- Access community prevention and treatment resources
- Support healthy choices at home
- Strengthen family communication
Community Partnerships
Galena Park ISD collaborates with approved community organizations to expand prevention education and provide additional resources for students and families. These partnerships support district-wide prevention initiatives while enhancing awareness, education, and early intervention efforts.
Red Ribbon Week
Each year, Galena Park ISD celebrates Red Ribbon Week, encouraging students and staff to commit to healthy, drug-free lifestyles through educational activities, campus events, and school-wide awareness campaigns.
