Galena Park ISD is proud to recognize the Budget Services Department for receiving the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) Meritorious Budget Award for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

NS Band Program of Distinction Award Logo

In December 2025, the North Shore Senior High (NSSH) band earned a milestone that cements its place among the nation’s elite music programs. The program was honored with the Earl D. Irons Program of Distinction award — a rare accolade recognizing ensembles thatcombine superior musical achievement, moral integrity, and a commitment to the international advancement of band music. Band Director Shane Goforth traveled to Chicago to accept the award on the band’s behalf.

North Shore Senior High School celebrated a proud tradition as five senior Mustangs officially committed to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level during North Shore Senior High School's Early Signing Day.

Galena Park ISD is pleased to share that we will participate in CenterPoint Energy’s Winter Commercial Load Management Program for the 2025-26 season. GPISD Board of Trustees Honors Ariana Sanches as District 4’s 2025 State Board of Education Hero for Children

At the September 8, 2025, Board of Trustees Meeting, Galena Park Independent School District (GPISD) proudly recognized Ariana Sanches for her outstanding service and dedication to the children of District 4. Sanches was celebrated as the 2025 recipient of the State Board of Education Hero for Children award, a prestigious accolade that highlights her remarkable contributions to the community and unwavering commitment to education.

Lone Star Leadership Academy

Galena Park ISD was once again represented at the summer’s Lone Star Leadership Academy camps, showcasing the District's dedication to nurturing future leaders. This year, two exemplary students from Cobb Sixth Grade Campus, Elena Aleman Rios and Branden Sepulveda, had the opportunity to attend the prestigious week-long camp, where they immersed themselves in learning about Texas and what it means to be from the Lone Star State.

Havard Elementary School Receives Generous $5,000 Donation from New Burlington Store

Galena Park Independent School District is thrilled to announce a generous $5,000 donation from Burlington Stores, the national discount retailer known for offering everyday low prices on brand-name merchandise for the entire family and home. This donation celebrates the grand opening of Burlington’s newest store in Houston at The Shops at Stone Park, located at 6022 East Sam Houston Parkway.

Nate Griffin from KRIV-TV and Fox 26 Morning News, along with Allan Jamail, freelance writer, and David Taylor from the North Channel Star, were honored by GPISD with a spot on the Texas Association of School Boards’ (TASB’s) 2025 Media Honor Roll!

Galena Park ISD is proud to announce it will continue to operate the Community Eligibility Program (CEP)under the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs for the 2025-2026 school year.

Starting with the 2025-26 school year, a new Texas law (HB1481) requires districts to limit student use of personal communication devices during the school day. In accordance with HB 1481, all student electronic devices will be required to be left at home or powered off and put away while on campus during the instructional day. Students will not be allowed to use personal devices at any time during the school day. This helps reduce distractions, protect student privacy, and support learning.

Galena Park Independent School District is excited to announce that the Board of Trustees has approved the schematic designs for two major projects—Cimarron Elementary School Replacement and Galena Park High School Phases 3-5.

Galena Park ISD recognized North Shore Senior High Ninth Grade Center student Jorge Guerra for being the first male swimmer to qualify for the University Interscholastic League Swim and Dive State Meet in 35 years.
