Summer 2025

Dear Galena Park ISD Family and Friends,

As the school year comes to a close and we eagerly anticipate the sunny days of summer, I want to take a moment to wish you all a wonderful and restful break. Summer is a time for relaxation, exploration, and making cherished memories with family and friends. However, it's also important to prioritize safety as we enjoy the season's activities.

Here are a few safety tips to keep in mind:

• Always: hike, bike, swim, play, or explore with a friend in designated areas and NEVER alone.
• Bike Helmets: Ensure everyone wears a properly fitted helmet when biking, skateboarding, or rollerblading.
• Bug Protection: Use insect repellent to protect against mosquito bites and ticks, especially when spending time in wooded or grassy areas.
• Buckle Up: Always wear seat belts when traveling in a vehicle.
• Life Jacket: Make sure you have properly fitting life jackets when participating in water activities.
• Review: Review safety plans for strangers, fire prevention/evacuation, and ensure a list of emergency contacts is easily accessible.
• Secure: Properly secure firearms in the home.
• Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated, especially during outdoor activities.
• Stay Informed: Remain Aware of weather conditions and seek shelter in case of lightning or extreme heat.
• Swim Safely: Swim in designated areas supervised by lifeguards and follow all posted safety rules. Follow the rules on playgrounds.

Thank you for your attention to these important safety tips. Together, we can ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable summer. I look forward to welcoming you back to school in the fall, refreshed and ready for another exciting year of learning and growth.
