The following section details the state funding factors for TIA designation amounts and the TIA spending plan for Galena Park ISD.

Funding

Three funding factors will determine the amount to which designated teachers will be eligible. The total dollar amount LEAs would receive from the state for their designated teachers depends on the teacher's designation level, whether the school where the educator works is rural, and the level of socioeconomic need at the campus. The funding that LEAs are eligible for per designation is:

  • Recognized: $3,000 - $9,000
  • Exemplary: $6,000 - $18,000
  • Master: $12,000 - $32,000

Spending

  • Designated teachers receive 90% of the designation amount (subject to the TRS employee contributions). Galena Park ISD retains 10% of the designation amount for the designated employee’s employer-paid benefits, such as TRS, Medicare, and Workers' Compensation.

  • Payment to designated teachers will be made as a one-time payment no later than August 31st.
