Galena Park Middle
The Woodland Acres 7th grade football team traveled down the road to Dement Field to match skills against Galena Park Middle School. It was a rainy evening setting the backdrop for the match up that ended with a 0-32 loss to GPMS. The offense initially found success in moving the ball led by quarterback Daniel Gomez and the ground game until a costly fumble shut down the series. Rafael Flores led the defense but GP simply continued to find ways into the end zone.
The WAMS gold team played their final game of the 2019 season against the GPMS Jackets. The defense played solid led by the sack and fumble recovery of Mauricio Bermudez. The offense was anchored by the running of David Cid and Victoriano Aleman extended the field with his reception. Unfortunately, the Hornets never found the end zone and the game ended with a 0-14 loss. Mauricio Bermudez was the MVP of the game.
The WAMS black team lost to the Jackets 0-26 despite some flashes of brilliance on both offense and defense. Nathan Cardoza put pressure on the Jacket defense with some big rushes early in the game. Joel Jimenez stretched the defense with a big reception. Justin Carr pulled down an interception and Yoshi Ramirez dominated from the linebacker position with some big league hits. Yoshi earned the MVP honors for his defensive play for the night.
