Galena Park High School Volleyball
The Galena Park Lady Jackets finished their 2019 volleyball season on the road at Santa Fe High School this last Tuesday evening.
The freshman team played hard and took Santa Fe to three sets, but was unable to finish off the match in the third. Galena Park lost 23-25, 25-22, and 15-25. Kimberly Nieto, Marissa Ramos, Daisia Cearcy and Gabby Munoz all earned game recognition for the stellar performances.
Junior Varsity Team:
The JV team entered the night with an opportunity to end their season tied for second place with Santa Fe. The Lady Jackets started strong controlling the first set 25-21. The second set looked to be all Galena Park as the Jackets took the early lead and was in control until late in the set when a tough server caused problems for the team. The Indians took set two 25-21. Santa Fe went up early but the Jackets fought back to take the lead, but the same serve receive problems crept back into the set and G.P. lost 20-25. Freshman, Belinda Lopez dominated on the net racking up 5 solo blocks and 8 kills. Linisa Hernandez and Monse Villalobos led the team in serving (100%) and on defense with 12 and 13 digs respectively. The Lady Jackets ended their district play 8-4 and in third place.
Galena Park lost to Santa Fe 13-25, 2-25, and 6-25.
