2018-2019 Student Trainers
The athletic trainers at Galena Park Independent School District take care of the injuries for all athletes grades 7-12. There are two athletic training rooms located at North Shore Senior High, one at North Shore High School, and two at Galena Park High School. The main training rooms are located in the field house on all campuses. All athletes are required to report all injuries to the athletic trainers, so they may be dealt with properly. Each athletic training room has a set time for athletes to be seen, and the coaches will be notified of each injured athlete and times that they came in for treatment or rehabilitation. The athletic trainers in GPISD are all licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services, and are dedicated to the health and well being of all the athletes in the district.
Galena Park High School Sports Medicine
Athletic Training at Galena Park High School's consists of a considerable responsibility that requires hard work, self-discipline, and a commitment to the program. As athletic trainers, it is our duty to give the highest level of athletic and sports medicine care to the athletes. The Galena Park Sports Medicine Team is a very important part of the success of the Mustang athletics program. We are responsible for the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of all athletic injuries that our athletes encounter. The student athletic trainers at Galena Park assist the licensed athletic trainers in all aspects of athletic training including taping, administering treatments, providing first-aid, injury evaluation, stretching, and computer record keeping.
Before any athlete participates in any in-season or out of season work out, they must have the physical form, emergency card and athletic participation agreement packet on file with the athletic trainers. No exceptions. Athletic physical forms can be picked up at field house, athletic director’s office and in all junior high coaching offices.
