Dear families of Woodland Acres Middle School,
I hope everyone had a restful and meaningful time with family and friends during the winter break. It is amazing that the year is more than half over and as our staff, teachers, and students returned to school, I noticed that our atmosphere was very positive.
We will continue to focus on attendance, student participation, and perseverance. We will also be working on re-establishing routines as we get back on track with learning.
Most students who do well in school have great attendance. They are in school every day and on time. Attendance is important because there is always something interesting to learn every moment that students are are here.
Students that are actively engaged in lessons also perform well in the classroom. We recommend that parents encourage their child(ren) to become active participates in the classroom and in other school activities.
Finally, perseverance. We encourage all students to take on a challenge and "stick with it." We want them to do their best even when things become difficult - this is how they will accomplish great things! Our most successful students continue to work hard even when things are challenging, without giving up and knowing when to ask for help.
We want ALL our students to be successful through consistent attendance, classroom participation, and perseverance.
For our parents, please be aware that becoming involved in your child’s education is very important. Research shows that when parents are involved students have higher grades, higher test scores, better attendance, increased motivation, better self-esteem, and fewer discipline issues.
Let’s make the best of the new year and make it count for our children.
Wishing all the best in 2020!
