Elementary Academies
Welcome to the Galena Park ISD Elementary Academies
Galena Park Independent School District is proud to offer Elementary Academies that broaden students’ educational experiences with focused programs in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and the Fine Arts (theatre, dance, music, and visual art). Our academies provide hands‑on, real‑world learning that builds problem‑solving, creativity, and collaboration—skills essential for success in the 21st‑century workforce. Last year, we launched STEM academies at Galena Park and Havard Elementary; this year, we’re excited to add Fine Arts academies at Cimarron and Pyburn Elementary, expanding opportunities across East Harris County.
These academies are open to all GPISD students in grades K–5, as well as children of GPISD employees and students from outside the district who wish to transfer in. The programs emphasize innovative instruction, project‑based learning, and enrichment activities that allow students to explore their passions and develop new talents. How Do I Get Started?
Parents of students who are not currently enrolled at or zoned for Havard Elementary or Galena Park Elementary Schools and are interested in the STEM Academies, please complete an admission/enrollment application. For parents interested in enrolling students in the Fine Arts Academies who are not currently enrolled or zoned to Cimarron Elementary or Pyburn Elementary Schools, please complete an admission/enrollment application.
For families with more than one elementary student, please complete one application for the whole family, including the information for each child on the same form.
Students must have good attendance, behavior, and transportation to be considered for the Academies. If necessary, a lottery system may be implemented.
