CDC Researchers Find Little Evidence of Major School Outbreaks
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) researchers on Tuesday said that there is "reassuring" evidence about a lack of widespread coronavirus transmission in schools, amid sometimes-intense debate over reopening. The researchers wrote in the Journal of the American Medical Association that there have been some reported cases of the virus in schools, but they have not been major drivers of transmission.

After-Hours Technical Support for Students/Parents
Galena Park I.S.D., working with Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia, has partnered with Harris County to provide additional after-hours technical support for students and parents. The Harris County Schools Digital Access Call Center will provide help Monday-Friday from 5pm-9pm and Saturday –Sunday 10am-2pm.

Free SAT/ACT Prep Course
Students have the opportunity to take a FREE SAT/ACT Prep Course. Please scan the QR Code to register. An income verification document must be included to enroll in the course.

New Beginnings Support Group
Galena Park I.S.D.'s Mental Health Intervention Team is offering a six-week New Beginnings Support Group for students, parents, or staff in need of a safe, supportive environment to share and cope with their feelings associated with the COVID-19 pandemic or any other life stressors. Participation in the group is free of charge and open to GPISD students, parents, and staff.

Removal of Unauthorized/Disruptive Persons
As of August 26, 2018 all school districts are subject to the Commissioner’s new rules regarding the removal of a disruptive person from a campus. More information regarding this new rule can be found in Chapter 37, section 37.105 of the Texas Education Code, which addresses: Unauthorized Persons, Refusal of Entry, Ejection, and Identification.

Galena Park ISD regularly provides mass notifications to parents, guardians, students, and faculty regarding weather closures, threat situations, event scheduling, or to provide other important education-related information.
