Early Childhood Department
The preschool years are a critical time in a student’s education. The learning experiences during these years provide a foundation that guide children academically, socially, and emotionally. Students come to class with vastly different abilities and experiences, and we want them all to experience early success academically and socially. Children’s learning and intellectual growth are affected by the specific experiences they have in a preschool classroom.
The Galena Park Independent School District’s Early Childhood Department is committed to creating meaningful experiences for all Pre-Kindergarten students. In order to increase your child’s readiness for kindergarten, Galena Park I.S.D. will begin to offer a Full-Day Pre-Kindergarten program for 4-year-old students at all campuses. A half day program is also offered for 3-year-old students at select campuses.
This outstanding opportunity to prepare your child for success includes an interactive learning community with targeted instruction by a state certified teacher. All students will also be provided free breakfast and lunch daily.
The primary focus of the Pre-K program is:
• Responsive listening
• Using language to learn
• Critical thinking
• Social, emotional and collaborative skills
