Dear Galena Park ISD Family and Friends,
As we begin this busy fall month that includes expressions of thankfulness, I want to start by expressing my gratitude for our campus principals, who work tirelessly to lead educational programs that are inclusive, meaningful, and rigorous. In recognition of National Principals’ Month, I ask that you join me in applauding the diligent work of Galena Park ISD’s valued principals by possibly sharing a greeting card, organizing a surprise moment of thanks, or simply saying “thank you.”
We will also recognize Red Ribbon Week (October 24th to October 28th) and Breast Cancer Awareness this month. Red Ribbon Week is the nation's longest-running drug-use prevention campaign with a mission to keep kids drug-free. Additionally, the GPISD community will proudly wear pink during the month to demonstrate our awareness of breast cancer and acknowledge the fight that many have waged against breast cancer. I am looking forward to seeing the red and pink attire across the district.
Finally, this month includes a Fall Break for Galena Park ISD. Students and staff will enjoy a long weekend beginning Friday, October 14th; staff will return to work on Tuesday, October 18th, for staff development, while students will return to school on Wednesday, October 19th. Please use the time to adjust to October’s cooler temperatures, rest up, and return ready to continue academic excellence!
I appreciate your continued support!
